The Supreme Court of India is recruiting 250 Junior Court Assistants (Group B, Non-Gazetted) for its registry in New Delhi. Graduates who can type 35 words per minute in English can apply on sci.gov.in until 28 October 2026, 11:55 PM. The objective test is tentatively set for 20 November 2026.
Why this post stands out
A Junior Court Assistant starts at Pay Level 6 with ₹35,400 basic pay. That is the same level as many graduate posts that need far tougher competitive exams. The work is clerical and administrative support inside the country's highest court: file movement, cause lists, case records and correspondence. Because posting is at the Supreme Court in New Delhi, factor in Delhi living costs when deciding.

Eligibility
- A bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
- Working knowledge of computer operation.
- English typing at 35 wpm on a computer. This is tested, not self-declared, so practise on a computer keyboard rather than a phone.
- Age 18 to 30 years as on 1 September 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories as per rules. Dependents of freedom fighters get up to 5 years. Departmental candidates of the Supreme Court registry have no upper age limit.
Four stages, each a filter
Selection moves through four rounds, and you must clear the qualifying mark in each to move ahead:
- Objective test: 100 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. Guessing costs you here.
- Typing test: 10 minutes at 35 wpm in English, with mistakes allowed up to 3%.
- Descriptive test: a two-hour English paper with comprehension, precis writing and an essay. Strong written English matters as much as speed.
- Interview with a minimum qualifying score.
Because the descriptive paper is in English and carries 100 marks, many candidates who clear the objective test fall behind here. Practise one precis and one short essay a week alongside MCQs.
Fee and how to apply
The fee is ₹1,500 for General candidates and ₹750 for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), ex-servicemen and physically challenged candidates, plus bank charges. It is paid online and is non-refundable.
- Open the recruitment notice on sci.gov.in and use only the application link given there.

The 250 figure is tentative and can change with the registry's requirements. Watch sci.gov.in for any corrigendum before the test.
